Finshed the seat rail.

Today I adjusted the fitting of the seat rail with the help of the bolts trough the seat mounting holes.
I started at the drivers side and tack welded it in place  and then continued at the passengers side.
So the next thing I did was welding the parts in place.
The pictures below show the finished result.

Next are the four corners of the floor that need some patching.
But that will be for after the holidays.
For now I which everybody a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Seat rail in place

A colleague at work painted the seat rail in primer.
After the paint dried I started with the dismounting of the jigs from the door. The seat rail was then laid in place and positioned. I drew the outline with a scribe and sanded the paint frome that location on the floor.
Next I drilled the holes in the rail for welding.
The boxes for the under side of the rail are also sanded and drilled.
With clamps the seat rail was then positioned in place
The holes for welding are drilled trough the floor and on the underside the paint was removed where the boxes will be fitted.
So next the boxes are positioned under the floor and and everything is tied down with some long bolts trough the mounting holes for the seats.

Tomorrow I will close the last gaps and then it will be welded in place.

Seat rail repair

From the start of this project we decided to reuse the seat rail.
So today I did some repairs on it.
First a co worker of me sandblasted the piece. As you can see in the picture below some of the edges which ar welded to the floor are rusted away.
With some cutting, welding and grinding the pieces look like new.

All they need is a coat of paint to prevent them from rusting again. After that they can be welded in place.

Welding the underside

Today I did weld most of the underside of the floor.

Tomorrow  I will weld most of the floor and then some more.

Floor pan in place

Today I started with drilling the holes for the welds.

When that was finished I used the hoist to lift the floor up  and let it down.
A few cuts were made and with some help the floor went into place.
Next I clamped it down with several tools (even some pieces of wood). I started the welding after the floor was in place and touching the frame where it needed to be welded.
Then I started with some tack welds from the tunnel to the rocker.
The next few pictures are from the underside  with the floor in place. Not yet fully welded. That will be for next week.

And a view from the top side.

Preparing the floor

The first I did today was the clean up of the transmission support.
This first picture is before.
And this is after the clean up.
Here the rail is mounted in place and fully welded.
The welds are mad outside and on the inside to make a strong connection.
Then  I started preparing the floor. The paint is removed in the places where there will be welded.
Next I started drilling holes in the parts where the floor is resting on the frame.

Driver side finished

The first thing I did today was making some reinforcement plates.
This reinforcement was then welded on the inner side of the rear frame section which was renewed with the rocker box.
This reinforcement was welded on the driver side and passenger side. Then I repaired the rear section of the floor.
 And the front section.
And above the front rocker box.

The last rocker box

Today I installed the last rocker box. The driver side rear one. It did take a lot of work. Measuring to get everything in line. Front to rear and rear to the side...
But after a while everything was lined up and welded in place.

Driver side rocker

Today I altered the rocker. Fitted the rocker box. Drilled the necessary holes and welded the parts in place.
That sums it up nicely.

Welding and fabricating.

Today I made a part of the outer rocker panel to replace the rusted part.
Then I reconstructed the frame rail that come down from the engine bay. Yesterday I cut out the piece that was rusted and needed repair. That piece was fully welded and grinded down. And the after drilling some holes for welding I mounted the frame extension.

The inner rocker was measured and the lines for cutting are drawn. That is where I will start tomorrow.

Grinding again

Today I grinded all the flanges clean for the new rocker. And some more rusted through parts are cut out.

Tomorrow we can start with making some parts and welding everything in place.
