Airco drains

Today I started with the installation of the airco drain tubes.
I've got a flexible tube and a spiral which I will use to prevent the tube from closing in tied bents.

I started with the passenger side. I cut a piece off flexible tube and a piece of the spiral that was a few cm shorter.
It fits like a glove.
Then I tried to do the same with the driver side and there it went wrong.
The outlet of the box is close to the outlet in the tunnel. Both tubes are in the same position horizontal and vertical but they are a few centimeters apart.
So installing the flex tube did not work.
Then I tried to make a bent tube from some hydraulic tube laying around. But at the end that did not work either.
So finally I ended up cutting pieces of that hydraulic tube at an angle and weld them back together in a tied bent s shape.
This piece will fit using the flexible tube to make the connections. But the paint has to dry.
I also looked at the ground cable. That will somehow have to be connected to the car and engine. That is a necessity to make sure that all electrics will work properly.

Doors

Today I closed the holes in the doors with tape and insulation material.
This will protect the passenger side from moisture entering the doors trough the windows.
Then it was time to fit the door cards to the door with the necessary trim to open and close the doors and the window.
The same was done for the passenger side.
Now I have to find a piece of tube for the airco and mount the console. But that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Installing the seats

I started with the installation of the emergency flash light switch.
I then cleaned the interior of all the tools and debris on the carpet and turned some plastic washers .
To replace the white washer. They are to be mounted under the window crank.
Next it was time to put teh rear seats in place.
And then the front seats could be in stalled. First the passenger side.
 And then the driver side.
Next I installed the steering wheel and trial fitted the console between the seats. It still has to be tightened down.
I also have to install the tubes for the airco so that the condense could escape to the outside. But it will have to wait until next week.

Altering the gearbox support.

The main reason for jacking up the car is that the gearbox barely clears the opening in the tunnel for the gear-change lever.
So today I jacked up the gearbox just enough to get the pressure of the bolts.
Then the support could be dismounted.
The bracket for the handbrake is sitting between the gearbox and the silent-bloc.
If I remove that plate I could win 3 mm that the gearbox comes lower thus getting more clearance with the tunnel. So I cut off a few pieces, Bent it somewhat and then welded that piece to the silent bloc while preventing for the rubber to overheat.
Some paint and the thing looks like new.
Then everything had to go back on the car. It took some time but we got it back installed.
Then I looked back at the interior where I installed a small fuse box for the airco and NOS Then All the wires are tucked away and the left speaker was mounted back in place.
One cable is still visible and that is for the emergency flasher switch. The mounting plate was a bit ugly so I had to clean it up and paint it again.
It now is ready to install.

Finishing the airco install

Early this morning I disconnected the charger from the battery. It was fully charged. I hook it up yesterday evening.
This evening I finished up on the installation of the airco unit in the car.On the passenger side all the wires are tucked away.
There were still 2 wires that were not connected. But those are for the solenoids of the NOS installation. I taped them off and tucked them with the other wires in the ashtray.
The wires still hanging from the driver side are wires for the airco and the NOS installation. They lead to fuses they were tucked away under the dash but I will lead them to the side whee I will install a small fuse box.
In the engine compartment I attached the hose for the airco to the pump.
Next I jacked up the car in put it on a few stands. There are a few items that need some attention ( more tomorrow).
But first I flipped the wheels around they were mounted on the wrong side.
Something that intrigued me for some time are the air valves for the tires. It seemed that they where missing. I found them They are on the inside of the rim behind a spoke. A small round plug, all I have to do is to find a small extension that can be screwed in to put the correct pressure in.
But for now I put the wheels back on.

Airco box

Today I started with finishing the ashtray. The wires are installed and put in place.
Now you see them ....
And now you don't. This cleans up the dashboard significantly.
So the next item on the list is the airco box. That are the remaining wires that have to go under the dash. Getting the hoses in place is a hassle and it is not done yet.
I will have to continue this tomorrow.

More interior trim installed

This post was supposed to be posted Yesterday. By mistake it ended in the wrong Blog.
Today I installed the right side of the quarter panel.
I also installed the seat belts for the front passenger and driver. Since the mounting hole of the new inner rocker panel is on an other location there was a hole in the carpet a few cm from the new one. So I made a cover plate in aluminum to cover that hole. On both sides.
I then installed the rocker panel cover on the passenger side ...
  And on the driver side.
I also prepared the back of the car for the installation of the rear seat. But ...

Moving on

Today I started with the installation of the ash tray. I installed the switches and connected the wires. Then I installed the radio to get those wires out of the way.
The wired plate I made did not fit the ash tray so I had to remove the connectors and solder the wires directly to the switches. For Insulation I used Tec 7. So I will have to wait until that sealer is hardened before I can continue with the installation.
So I did something else. I installed the windshield with all the trimming in and out.
The son blinds, the rear view mirror are all in place.
Then I started with the carpets. First the rear piece was put in place and then the front piece. And the seat belts are partially mounted in place.
Then on the drivers side I installed the rear quarter cover.
And then it was time to end the day.

Ashtray part 2

Today I had my car full with Mustang parts.
Almost the complete interior of the mustang was in my car to move the parts to an other location including the windshield.
Now all the parts are at the same location as the car and the work can continue.
So back to the ashtray. I applied some filler to the area that i welded in yesterday. To give it an as smooth look as possible. While the filler was hardening ( which is difficult in below 0°C, so I had to turn the heater on) I drilled some hole in the insert plate I made yesterday, after determining the right location for the switches.
Then I made a cover plate to fill the holes on the inside. Both parts are spot welded together.
Then I sanded the outside cover smooth and applied a coat of primer to both surfaces.
After that paint dried I painted it satin black.
And that was it for today . The paint must now dry and then...

Ash tray.

Today the car arrived to its new location.
So the first thing to do is to unpack and lay all on tables.
Including the steering wheel which we had mounted to move the car.
 And the gear shifter.
And now we can continue with the work. The ash tray is next. As you can see it is drilled for the buttons for the Nitrous Oxide installation.
First we marked all the buttons and then they were removed. The holes in the front are cut out and a piece of metal is prepared to weld in place.
This is how it looks fully welded, we then ground the welds flush and shaped the piece so that it fits the dashboard again.
We then made a plate and gave it a bent  for the inside of the ashtray.
But this story we will have to continue an other day.
